Work In Progress
This page will be informal, almost journal-like in content; rambling thoughts on the writing process as I'm working. And when I'm deep in a book, battling the deadline? Probably won't find much here!
FINAL WARNING!!!
If you haven't read all the books, you might bump into things here that ruin surprises in some of them!
3/02/2012 - Working on a short which will release between WARRIOR'S REDEMPTION and WARRIOR REBORN. Since this will be ebook only and maybe a fourth the length of the regular books, I struggled with WHO this story would be about. Most of the characters want a BIG story! :-) As it turns out, there was one little story lurking there in between the books. Remember Jeanne? The maid who became Dani's friend in WARRIOR'S REDEMPTION ? Wasn't it just SO sad what happened to her husband? She and Eymer had been married for such a short time. BUT... as is the case with many of the people who live in my world, their relationship wasn't quite what it seemed... More on Jeanne later.
8/20/11 - Working on the tenth book. The Prologue and Chapter One of WARRIOR'S REBIRTH are both done. It felt so right to pick up Christiana's story where I saw her last in WARRIOR'S REDEMPTION . The better I get to know her, the more I like her... and the more I enjoy the high-stakes cat and mouse game she's forced to play against her brother.
02/08/10 - Finished the Prologue of Book 8 and began Chapter One. At last the secret of Colin MacAlister's Faerie Gift [first mentioned in A Highlander of Her Own will be explained to everyone. As always with a new Work In Process, I'm already in love with Colin! And after starting her introductory chapter, I think Abigail is going to be more than a match for him!
10/26/09 - Just realized why characters are resisting so hard what I'm trying to write and why the words aren't coming... IT ISN'T WHAT'S SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN NEXT!!! Good golly. Finally realized there was all kinds of stuff to come first. Did my homework on travel and inns in thirteenth century -- Really like Daily Life in Medieval Europe by Jeffrey L. Singman to help keep me as historically accurate as I can be [and still write about Faeries!!]. Now I know what happens next! YES!!
7/28/09 - I've started. After the awful time I gave Leah in DESTINY, I feel almost guilty giving her more grief.
But, in a clear case of 'the ends justifying the means' I'll make sure she gets her very own Happy Ever After in
this book.
10/21/09 - Leah's getting even with me...Making me work for every, single word of her story! Still, I'm enjoying her attitude and her bravery even though she'd gotten a tad bit complacent at the beginning of her story. Today I write the scene where she meets her 'hero.' Barring any surprises -- I never know for sure WHAT my characters are going to do until I write it! -- this should shake her world up a bit!
7/27/09 - Synopsis completed and sent. I'm thinking I'd like to use Healing in the title. Healing the Highlander?
Highland Healing? We'll see what Megan thinks.
7/22/09 - My agent is waiting for the synopsis of my next book. Well, MY version of a synopsis. I don't do a
full synopsis because I don't know what's going to happen exactly until I begin writing. What DO I know at this
point? It will be Leah's book. And her hero? I know that much. Leah is a healer, though she's sworn off using
her magic. Who needs healing? Ah... Andrew MacAlister, of course. They'll be perfect for one another.
